Indication:
BLINATUMOMAB generic is a prescription medicine used to treat of B-cell precursor acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), a type of blood cancer. It is used in patients with relapsed or refractory disease who have not responded to prior treatments, as well as in those who are in complete remission but still have minimal residual disease (MRD ≥0.1%), since even small amounts of leukemia cells can lead to relapse. Dosage:
BLINATUMOMAB is usually given as a continuous intravenous infusion, with dosing based on the patient’s weight and treatment phase—for example, adults often start with 9 mcg/day in the first week, then increase to 28 mcg/day from the second week onward, while pediatric dosing is adjusted by body surface area. Because of possible side effects like fever, neurological reactions, or cytokine release syndrome, treatment is closely monitored in a hospital setting at the start.
Extra note: Because of the risk of serious side effects such as cytokine release syndrome and neurological reactions, the first days of treatment are usually given under close medical supervision, often in a hospital, to ensure patient safety.
